Gaze of Fury
A lot of people have it in their build. Why is it so great and how do you use it properly, in particualt making sure it doesn't consume an expensive spirit you just spawned.

(Edit:I can't read good der der der). Where do u see this skill being used? O_o It can used to destroy spirits behind Mallyx quickly or to just dispose of annoying bloodsongs in CoF runs, but nothing else comes to mind.

it's a handy skill in several places
slaver's exile in particular
use it on the enemy spirits
it works on ranger enemy spirits also
so using it to take out say frozen soil or something works good
it's another spirit to use against your enemies
when well used it is a very versatile and helpful skill

>use it on the enemy spirits
Bingo! That 's the part I had missed about "proper" usage of this skill.
Thanks

It can be used on your own spirits. I fiddled around with it on my rit a bit, I would pop one of sos's spirits with it then reuse sos , summon spirits to drag it around with me. Not that great just an extra dmg spirit(don't use it now just wanted to see if it would work) and not always reliable because it doesn't always kill what you are targeting.
Also in vsf groups sometimes the fs will bring gaze as their fs popping skill, not sure why.

I guess it is to take out FS to res some party member that should not be dead, otherwise ull have to wait till FS dies and meanwhile some more party members can die.

VSF groups also used it to take out those enemy sprits that pop up and can kill the 1hp BiP in a single hit.

I does work on your own spirits, whcih is what confused me about its proper use, and unless you select one of your spririts specifically, it seems to consume the last one you spawned. Since the spirit it spawns is ok but nothing write home about, I was trying to understand the benefit.
Now that I realize it's not really used for the spirit it spawns, but is used for taking down a spirit (either enemy, or one of yours like in the vsf case), it makes a lot more sense.

I know that, but gaze can hit eoe instead of fs, rupture soul is more reliable. Have been in group before where person was targeting fs but gaze was killing eoe first every time. (ctrl + activate to show they were targeting fs and it killing eoe)

I guess, if they use an elite other than consume soul.

Can hit what ? the spirit it lefts doesnt attack allied spirits , i dont know what you mean with "hit eoe instead of fs" , you just use the skill on the spirit you want dead and thats it . I dont know how many times you saw that but in ALL runs ive ever done that never happened to me nor any of party members.

Ok I did not say the spirit of fury will attack eoe, I said that gaze can hit it, as it does not target. If you have fs and eoe up and use gaze, it can kill eoe even when you target fs.
Example a few hours ago I did a vsf run on my monk, the rit had gaze to use as their fs popping skill. We killed all, gate was down, sin was dead, they used gaze, it killed eoe and not fs. So we had to wait till the 20 sec recharge was done so they could use it again to kill fs. I have seen this happen alot with gaze on vsf runs.
My original comment "Also in vsf groups sometimes the fs will bring gaze as their fs popping skill, not sure why." could have been elaborated on to point out that I see it as less efficient than rupture in what it is used for.
Understand now?

The rit probably killed the wrong spirit, but anyway, why dont u test it yourself to see if it happens or not?

Read further up. First example was a time where they were ctrl clicking (making it say in chat "I am using gaze of fury on spirit of frozen soil) and it killed eoe instead of fs. Read the skill description for gaze "destroys a spirit" not destroys target spirit. Yes it does kill targeted spirit as well , but it can ignore your target and kill another spirit near you.
Which has nothing to do with the topic but another response to clarify what I meant by questioning why use it in vsf.

They should have CS, but in some bad PUG's they don't so gaze of fury is an alternative.

Then it must be a bug , i used it almost a thousand times with my ranger and zero problems. You should report it , maybe they can fix it on next update.

Its great as a backup skill for a spirit spammer. The Spirit of Fury it creates is unique, so you could pop Pain or Bloodsong with it, get a Fury, and then recast Pain/Bloodsong and have two spirits. While that may seem like "duh just bring another spirit" GoF also has uses such as:
Popping Mallyx's environmental effect spirits quickly and easily (something like 6k life in NM IIRC)
Popping Spirit of Portals in Sunjiang District
With 14 Channeling, the Fury spirit lasts 58 seconds, so synergizes well with SoS. Consume Soul is ok, but I'd rather have more utility/survivability in PUGs and PvE in general, which means elites other than CS.
